The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Homer Sport Fish management staff and the Homer Charter Association will be cohosting a preseason sport fishing meeting on May 16th in the Islands and Ocean Visitors Center auditorium at 6pm.
This meeting will provide sport fishing guides and business owners an opportunity to meet and discuss sport fisheries with ADF&G staff and local enforcement staff from Alaska Wildlife Troopers, NOAA, State Parks, and the Coast Guard. Although this meeting will be in person, ADF&G will try to establish a virtual option before the meeting.
Here’s a brief rundown of some of the discussion:
Homer ADF&G Management Staff- Introductions, preseason emergency order restrictions, inseason monitoring, eVendor, Lower Cook Inlet Board of Fish meeting
ADF&G Logbook staff- e logbooks, inseason support
ADF&G Port sampling crew/Statewide groundfish coordinator- port sampling and data
ADF&G rockfish research- deepwater release devices and rockfish survival studies
Alaska Wildlife Troopers- Regulation compliance
NOAA Enforcement- Halibut regulations
State Parks- Park waters, permits
Coast Guard- Vessel inspections and boardings
