Please join us for the first Homer Charter Association meeting of 2024. We have a conference speaker back in action if you plan to call in. Call in info will be emailed ahead of the meeting on Friday.
On the agenda:
– Game plan for upcoming IPHC meeting (Jan 22-26 in Anchorage), plus updates from meetings of the Alaska Board of Fisheries and NPFMC.
– Information about HCA partnership with the Homer Chamber for an annual halibut derby.
– Presentation from local photographer/videographer Brian Smith about a video highlighting bycatch issues, and discuss potential involvement.
– Status on intervening lawsuit supporting abundance based management in the Bering Sea. The Amendment 80 sector has sued NMFS over its implementation, and HCA has joined others to fight that lawsuit.
– Discuss possible nominations for the Homer Fish and Game Advisory Committee. Currently there is only one charter representative on the 15-person committee, and elections are likely to happen at its next meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
– 2023 HCA recap and 2024 membership dues.
